Armadillo LCS

9/27/2011 by Administrator

After a couple months of changes we have now got the LCS to where we are happy with the weight and look. It also has a new name based on what it resembles. The "Armadillo LCS" is a one-man sub three pound tent with stakes! It still features the BedNet as the inner base and then use a shock corded pole to give you a double wall tent. Which in the south is a must because of all the humidity. We got rid of the vestibules to save weight and since the military uses waterproof pack covers now it wasn't neccessary. It uses the same 70 Denier Ripstop Nylon as the EBNS so you know it is durable. A cool feature is that you can actually take the riddgeline pole out and then fold the tent (with the fly still attached) up like you normally do a BedNet. Even with the fly on you can still pack it down to 13" x 13" x 3" as seen below. Another feature is Ventilation straps. As you can see below if you need extra air movement in the tent you can use the Ventilation straps to let extra air in. When not needed they store underneath to keep the elements out. If 3 pounds is somehow to heavy and you need even less weight you can leave the pole at home and use some 550 cord or equivalent. Just string the cord between two trees and then attach the clips on the rope to create the backbone. The tent goes down to 2.55 lbs if you do that!

LCS Lightweight Combat Shelter

2/10/2011 by Administrator

We like to think we just don't rest on our laurels. With that said we thought we had put out on heck of a shleter with the Enhanced BedNet. Well after going to trade shows and talking with our customer base we hear that you wanted one with the same benifits of the EBN just lighter. So we have come up with the Lightweight Combat Shelter based off our EBN model. We cut and trimmed as much as we could and got it around 3 pounds. It still features our patented BedNet system but now you can get rid of that if you dont need it and use the fly as a stand alone tent. Here are some pics to show you how we are coming along. We aren't finished just yet so no official specs but we hope you will love it.

Chayanta 2

5/04/2010 by Administrator

We have a new tent in the works! It's called the Chayanta 2 and its part of our Backpacking line of tents.  If you're a fan of ultralight backpacking then you will be glad to hear that you can pitch the fly and footprint to make quick and light shelter. But even if you do bring the whole setup including the bag it only weighs in at five pounds! Not too bad for a 2-3 man tent. It can be broken down into components to spread the weight of the load around. The hub pole system is similar to the SpeeDome we use in our firefighting line of family tents. The poles stay connected to the hub system so you can't lose any of the parts. The integrated fly poles extend the headroom of the fly making it easier to get around in the backpacking tent. You get two doors to get in and out of and also to vestibules to protect your gear against the elements. The Chayanta 2 will be available in the fall of 2010. Look for specials once it is available.
